Teresa Diehl

Teresa Diehl was born in Tannourin, Lebanon; she grew up in Caracas, Venezuela and currently resides in Miami, Florida. She received her BFA degree in Photography at Florida International University in 1985 and an MFA at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1989. Since the late 1990’s her work has explored the fine line that exists between intimacy and discomfort, private and public, pleasures and terrors. Since 2003 her work has focused primarily in video, sound and interactive installations; for Diehl the Art experience involves all the senses. Often returning to Lebanon to reconnect with her birth land, her latest work generates as a direct experience of having been present in Lebanon during the fighting at Naher el Bared in 2007. In 2007 she was the recipient of the South Florida Art Consortium and the SunTrust Endow Teaching Chair from Broward College.
