Two Ties

Two Ties investigates the nostalgia for passing family narratives and the obsolete technologies that capture them. The video presents mundane family rituals through five movements ranging from a Wild-Wild-West attraction to a boat ride through Disney Land’s Magic Kingdom. As the video progresses, the narrator continues to tell the same story over and over. The repetition of narrative sound and archival video attempts to blur the inherent rhythms often found within narrative events. Two Ties reveals how family history can be captured with a mobile device, turning specific moments into contained and reproducible events.
