FOOD COURT is a set of interactive video installations that playfully explore the fragmentation of social identity in the fast-food age, using semiotics and deep-fryer fat to investigate the viewer’s relationship to language, advertising, and culture. JeffuBurger is an amalgam of the iconic hamburger restaurants that have redefined the postwar landscape; Il Jeffuria Pizza investigates pizza as a ubiquitous new-world phenomenon; JFC’s ambiguous acronym explores all things deep-fried, masking content beneath greasy, extra-crispy exterior. Viewers order from touch-screen menus, triggering the life-sized video Jeffu to leap into action: preparing conceptual recipes, enduring absurd situations, or overturning logic.
