Alexander Del Re

Alexander Del Re is a long-time scholar of Performance Art history, and since 1993, a performance artist presenting his work in 12 countries of America, Europe and Asia. Among others, he has performed at the following international performance art festivals: "Cleveland PAF '96" (Cleveland, USA), "Currency 2002" (New York, USA), "eBent'02" (Barcelona, Spain), "Full Nelson 5" (Los Angeles, USA), "Proyecto Limes" (Montevideo, Uruguay and Buenos Aires, Argentina), "9th NIPAF Asian Performance Art Series '04", (Tokio, Nagoya, Kioto y Nagano, Japan), "7a*11d" (Toronto, Canada), "FIX 04" (Belfast, UK), "Jornadas de Perfomance" (Mexico City, Mexico) and "Mobius International Festival of Performance Art" (Boston, USA).
In addition to his solo work, he collaborates with Camila Schliebener in sound performance experiments of the duo "Girls in a Cage", publishing under the independent label Bad Format Records, producing audio material for performances and films. Del Re teaches Performance Art independently in several institutions in Chile, also teaching performance art workshops internationally, as part of the teaching collective "Body, Image and the Other", with Jamie McMurry and Helge Meyer. Since 1997 he has been a producer and curator of international and local performance art events with his organization PerfoPuerto (of which is the co-founder, with Alejandra Herrera), presenting over a hundred artists from 25 countries in Santiago and Valparaiso, Chile, as well as in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has published numerous articles in journals, catalogues and online publications. His essay "Confronta tu Icono" (Confront your Icon), is included in the recent book "Perfomance y Arte de Accion en America Latina", compiled by Josefina Alcazar in Mexico city.
