The video work presented is part of documentation from a dialogic public art project created during a six-month residency at Coleman Center for the Arts in York, Alabama. This project points to ongoing transitions of York, Alabama and its loss of downtown culture, segregated school system, and Black Belt heritage. Calling on local residents for collaboration and shared experience, this project incorporated sound and video that culminated into a community event. Along with a ten-channel gallery exhibition, video footage of moving trains was projected onto two structures that lay along the old railroad track with sound broadcast from tricked-out cars’ speakers.
